Salvador's coastline changes character at the Barra headland. West of it, you are on the Baía de Todos-os-Santos: calmer water, sunset views, city beaches. East of it, you are on the open Atlantic: more wind, more waves, longer stretches of sand and a slower, more residential feel the further you go.
