At Salvador Insider, we respect the privacy of people who use our website.
This Privacy Policy explains what information may be collected when you access Salvador Insider, why it is used, with whom it may be shared, how long it may be retained and what choices and rights you have regarding your personal data.
Our goal is to collect only the data needed to operate, protect, understand and improve the website.
We do not sell our visitors' personal data.
1. About this Policy
This Policy applies to salvadorinsider.com and to pages and services directly operated by Salvador Insider.
It does not apply to third-party websites, platforms, booking systems or services that may be accessed through links published on the site.
Those third parties have their own privacy policies and practices.
2. Who is responsible for data processing
For the purposes of this Policy, Salvador Insider refers to the party responsible for the editorial and digital operation of salvadorinsider.com and for decisions concerning personal-data processing carried out directly through it.
Privacy and personal-data requests may be sent through the contact channel indicated on the website.
When necessary to protect data subjects, we may request reasonable information to confirm the identity of the person making a request.
3. Information we may collect
The amount and type of information collected depend on how you use the website.
Information collected automatically
When you access Salvador Insider, certain technical information may be processed automatically, including pages visited; date and time of access; approximate visit duration; traffic source or referring page; browser type; device type; operating system; screen resolution or other technical characteristics; country, region or approximate geographic location; interactions with pages and site elements; and technical or pseudonymous identifiers associated with cookies or similar technologies.
This information is used mainly to understand how the website is used, identify technical problems, measure content performance and improve the visitor experience.
4. Google Analytics
We currently use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand, in aggregate, how visitors use Salvador Insider.
Google Analytics may process information such as visitor numbers, pages viewed, session duration and characteristics, traffic source, approximate geographic location, browser and device information, and interaction events on the site.
Google Analytics uses technical identifiers and may use first-party cookies such as _ga to distinguish users and sessions.
We do not use Google Analytics with the intention of personally identifying individual visitors, and we should not send Google Analytics directly identifying information such as a person's name, email address or telephone number.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files or identifiers stored on or accessed from a visitor's device. They can serve different purposes.
Strictly necessary cookies
Certain technical or security features may use storage necessary for the website to function properly.
Where strictly necessary for operation of the service, these resources may function regardless of preferences regarding optional cookies, as permitted by applicable law.
Analytics cookies
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the website. Salvador Insider uses Google Analytics for this purpose.
Where applicable law requires prior consent, non-essential analytics cookies and technologies will be used according to the visitor's choice.
Advertising cookies
Salvador Insider currently uses Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies to deliver, measure and, where permitted, personalise advertising.
Where consent is required by applicable law, non-essential advertising technologies will be used in accordance with the visitor's privacy choices.
Affiliate cookies and identifiers
Salvador Insider uses affiliate programmes, currently including tools provided by Travelpayouts.
When a visitor interacts with certain affiliate links, widgets or tools, technical identifiers may be used to record the source of the interaction and allow a later booking, purchase or other eligible action to be attributed to Salvador Insider.
The duration of these identifiers depends on the specific programme. According to Travelpayouts' current documentation, the Partner ID associated with its tools is normally stored in a cookie for approximately 30 days, unless a particular programme establishes a different period.
Cookie preferences
When available, visitors may use the website's privacy-preferences mechanism to accept, reject or change their choice regarding optional cookies.
Cookies can also be deleted or blocked through browser settings. Rejecting or deleting certain affiliate cookies may prevent a booking from being attributed to Salvador Insider, and blocking some technical resources may affect certain site functions.
6. Information you provide voluntarily
We may also receive information when you choose to provide it directly, for example when you contact us, submit a suggestion or correction, respond to a survey, use a future interactive feature or voluntarily subscribe to a newsletter if that service becomes available.
Depending on the situation, this information may include your name, email address and the content of the message you send.
We do not request personal data beyond what is necessary for the stated purpose.
7. Newsletter and communications
Salvador Insider may in the future offer a newsletter or another voluntary communication service.
If that service is activated, subscription will depend on a voluntary action by the user. The email address provided will be used for the purpose presented at signup and may be processed by a specialist communications provider.
Promotional communications sent by us will provide a reasonable way to unsubscribe.
We will not treat a voluntary newsletter subscription as general permission to send communications unrelated to the stated purpose.
8. How we use information
Data processed by Salvador Insider may be used to:
- provide and operate the website;
- measure audience and usage;
- understand which content is most useful;
- improve navigation, performance and accessibility;
- identify errors and technical problems;
- protect the website against fraud, abuse and malicious activity;

- comply with legal obligations;
- exercise or defend rights;
- manage consent and privacy preferences;
- develop new features;
- perform statistical and aggregate analysis;

- attribute bookings and other eligible actions to Salvador Insider;

- evaluate the performance of content and monetisation tools.
Purpose limitation
We do not use personal data for purposes incompatible with those disclosed without an appropriate basis for doing so.
9. Legal bases for processing
Depending on the purpose, type of data and law applicable to the visitor, processing may rely, among other bases, on consent; the need to operate and secure the service; legitimate interests where permitted and after considering the rights of the data subject; compliance with legal or regulatory obligations; and the exercise or defence of legal rights.
Where particular processing depends on consent, refusal will not prevent access to Salvador Insider's main editorial content unless a specific feature requires that processing in order to function.
Consent may be withdrawn later where applicable.
10. With whom we may share information
We do not sell personal data.
Information may be shared with or processed by providers that help us operate, measure, protect or monetise the website.
These providers and partners may include Google through Google Analytics and Google AdSense; Travelpayouts and companies responsible for its affiliate and monetisation infrastructure; travel brands and suppliers participating in the affiliate programmes we use; hosting and infrastructure services; security and abuse-prevention providers; email and newsletter providers; and other technical tools necessary for features actually made available on the site.
The type of information processed depends on the tool used and the visitor's interaction.
We do not deliberately provide affiliate partners with names, email addresses or other directly identifying data collected by us solely for the purpose of commission attribution.
Certain external partners and suppliers may carry out their own processing when a visitor interacts directly with their services.
We may also disclose information when required by law, court order or a valid request from a competent authority, or when necessary to protect the rights, security or integrity of Salvador Insider, its visitors or third parties.
11. International data transfers
Some providers used by Salvador Insider operate internationally distributed infrastructure. As a result, certain information may be processed or stored in countries other than the country where the visitor is located.
This may occur, for example, through our use of international services such as Google Analytics, Google AdSense, Travelpayouts and other technology providers.
Where applicable, we seek to use providers and mechanisms that offer appropriate safeguards for such transfers under relevant law.
The level and location of processing may also depend on the infrastructure and settings of the provider concerned.
12. Travelpayouts, affiliate links and monetisation
Salvador Insider participates in affiliate programmes made available through Travelpayouts, an affiliate-marketing platform focused on the travel sector.
We use Travelpayouts Drive and other platform tools to enable and measure certain forms of content monetisation.
These tools may include affiliate links, widgets, search tools, automated monetisation features, content-performance analytics and other travel-service tools.
Content Analytics
Travelpayouts offers a feature called Content Analytics, which allows performance measurement for pages containing platform tools.
This feature may display aggregate metrics such as visits, unique visits, clicks, bookings, conversions, tool performance, the page or tool responsible for the origin of a booking, and revenue or commissions associated with affiliate tools.
According to Travelpayouts' current documentation, its specific Content Analytics feature does not collect or store personal data, IP addresses or other information intended to identify an individual visitor.
That statement concerns Content Analytics specifically and does not mean that every service, brand or tool in the Travelpayouts ecosystem operates in exactly the same way.
Affiliate identification and attribution
Salvador Insider has its own partner identifier with Travelpayouts. This identifier is associated with affiliate tools and allows the platform to identify that a particular click or visit originated from Salvador Insider, attribute searches, bookings or other eligible actions to our project and calculate any applicable commissions.
When someone interacts with a relevant tool, this identifier may be stored in a cookie or equivalent technology on the device.
According to Travelpayouts' current documentation, the Partner ID is normally stored for approximately 30 days unless a specific programme establishes a different period. Exact attribution rules and duration may vary between participating brands and programmes.
Data processed by other programmes and suppliers
Some brands, tools and programmes accessed through Travelpayouts may use their own measurement systems, cookies, IP addresses, technical identifiers or other technologies necessary for providing, securing, attributing or analysing their services.
When a visitor is redirected to another website or service, processing in that environment is also governed by the privacy policy of the relevant provider.
Purpose and commercial relationship
We use Travelpayouts to provide travel-service tools, identify which content and tools generate interactions, attribute bookings and other eligible actions to Salvador Insider, calculate commissions arising from those actions, evaluate the performance of our content and monetisation tools, and improve the way relevant services are presented to visitors.
Through the ordinary affiliate-attribution system, we do not receive the complete data that a visitor uses to complete a reservation directly with a hotel, airline, booking platform or other supplier.
When a booking, purchase or other eligible action is attributed to Salvador Insider through Travelpayouts, we may receive a commission from the corresponding programme. This commercial relationship does not alter our principles of editorial independence and is also addressed in our Editorial Policy.
13. Advertising and other commercial relationships
Salvador Insider currently uses Google AdSense and may also use sponsorships or additional affiliate and advertising networks in the future.
Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies to deliver, measure and, where permitted, personalise advertising.
If new advertising or tracking technologies are activated, this Policy will be updated where necessary to explain their operation.
Where advertising or tracking cookies require consent, they will be used in accordance with the privacy choices applicable to the visitor.
Relevant commercial relationships are also disclosed in accordance with our Editorial Policy.
14. Links to third parties
Salvador Insider contains or may contain links to restaurants, hotels, attractions, tourism operators, transport companies, booking platforms, social networks, public institutions and other external websites and services.
Some of these links may be part of affiliate programmes.
When you follow one of these links, you begin interacting with a service that we do not control.
We are not responsible for the privacy practices, technologies, security or content of external services. We recommend reviewing the relevant service's privacy policy whenever personal information is provided directly to a third party.
15. How long we retain data
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, protect rights or maintain service security.
Retention periods may vary according to the type of information, purpose of processing, service settings, duration of cookies and related technologies, legal obligations, security needs and the existence of a dispute or exercise of rights.
Retention periods applied by third parties such as Google, Travelpayouts or brands participating in affiliate programmes may be determined by their respective policies and settings.
Properly aggregated or anonymised statistical data may be kept for longer periods where it does not identify an individual.
16. Security
We adopt reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information against unauthorised access, loss, improper alteration, disclosure, destruction and use incompatible with the stated purposes.
No system connected to the internet can provide an absolute guarantee of security.
If an incident involving personal data is identified, we will take reasonably necessary measures and make notifications required by applicable law.
17. Your rights regarding your data
Depending on the country or region where you are located and the law that applies, you may have rights relating to the processing of your personal data.
These rights may include knowing whether we process your data; obtaining information about processing; requesting access; requesting correction of inaccurate or incomplete information; requesting deletion where applicable; requesting anonymisation or blocking in certain circumstances; requesting restriction of processing where applicable; requesting portability where provided by law; objecting to certain forms of processing; withdrawing previously given consent; obtaining information about relevant sharing; requesting review of certain automated decisions where applicable; and lodging a complaint with the competent data-protection authority.
Not all rights are absolute, and some depend on the specific circumstances and applicable law. We will respond to requests according to the deadlines and requirements established by relevant legislation.
18. Visitors from Brazil
Visitors subject to Brazil's Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados Pessoais (LGPD) may exercise the rights provided by Brazilian law.
Where appropriate, they may also contact Brazil's Autoridade Nacional de Proteção de Dados (ANPD).
19. Visitors from the European Union and other jurisdictions
Visitors subject to the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or other data-protection laws may have additional or specific rights under local law.
We seek to respect those rights whenever the corresponding legislation applies to our activities.
The same principle applies to visitors from other jurisdictions that establish mandatory privacy and data-protection rights.
20. Children and teenagers
Salvador Insider is a general travel guide and is not designed as a service specifically directed at children.
We do not intentionally request children's personal data for profiling, targeted advertising or features aimed at minors.
If data is identified as having been provided inappropriately by or on behalf of a child, a parent or guardian may contact us to request review and, where applicable, deletion of that information.
21. Automated decisions
Salvador Insider does not currently use personal data to make solely automated decisions that produce legal effects or similarly significant consequences for individual visitors.
Automated tools used for analytics, advertising, monetisation or selecting elements displayed on the website should not be interpreted as legal decisions about a visitor.
If such processing is introduced in the future, this Policy will be updated where necessary.
22. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect new features, changes in providers, changes in data-processing practices, new affiliate or advertising programmes, new legal or regulatory requirements, or improvements in our privacy practices.
When a change is relevant, the updated version will be published on the website with the corresponding update date.
If a change requires new consent from the visitor, it will be requested where applicable.
23. Contact and privacy requests
Questions, requests or complaints regarding this Policy or the processing of personal data may be sent through the contact channel indicated on Salvador Insider.
When we receive a personal-data request, we may need to confirm sufficient information to identify the data subject and prevent data from being disclosed or modified in response to a fraudulent request.
Our privacy commitment
We do not want to know more about our visitors than we need to know.
We use data to operate, protect, measure and improve Salvador Insider and to support the forms of monetisation that help keep the project running.
We aim to do this transparently and with respect for the choices of the people who use the site.
Privacy should not require anyone to read forty pages written in legal dialect just to find out what is happening.
This policy exists precisely to avoid that.
