Cidade Baixa & Ribeira
Bay views, Bonfim, local food and old Salvador — an area we recommend visiting by day rather than sleeping in on a first trip.

Ribeira and the Itapagipe peninsula hold some of the city's most atmospheric bay views, the Igreja do Bonfim, and a food culture that has nothing to do with tourism. Accommodation options are limited and the area is quiet at night, so most first-time visitors are better off coming for an afternoon and evening.
Hotel and guesthouse availability changes constantly, and we do not list individual properties until we can verify them. Check current reviews and locations before booking.
